Sam Houston State University
Web Experience Design, Summer 2017
University leadership tasked our team with improving the university’s web experience. The website had undergone multiple template re-designs (mainly visual re-designs) in prior years without much improvement to the overall usability.
The highest concern expressed to us was the lack of prospective student’s usability during the admissions process. To tackle this, we performed qualitative and quantitative user research in addition to our own analysis of information architecture surrounding admissions-related pages.
We surveyed the student body about their experience with the website while applying and received responses from over 10% of the total population. These results combined with heat mapping and quantitative information attained from Google Analytics allowed us to create a new information architecture from existing content and brand standards. This architecture was then provided to a small focus group of students, who gave feedback.
From the results of the research, we built wireframes and fleshed out rough prototypes in Adobe XD for mobile, tablet, and desktop. After administrators reviewed the design and asked to move forward, we developed the main landing page and admissions page, then passed it off to our webmaster for further testing and implementation in the content management system.

Forest Glen Camps
Web Site Design, 2012
This was the outcome of designing and developing a new web experience to replace an outdated website.
The solution reorganized information for ease of use by visitors, and brought a fresh look to the camp’s brand. The color scheme was chosen to specifically highlight and reflect natural colors found at Forest Glen.
One of the central ideas behind the website redesign was to bring elements of camp to the digital experience.
