Project Narrative
The Texas State University System Online Education Annual Report has been written and designed every fall by our team since its inception in 2017. My team and I assist leadership in researching and writing the report. We hold responsibility for the report’s look, feel, and layout in accordance with TSUS branding and design standards.
Collaborative Process
This annual project has grown our team through augmentation of both individual skill sets and teamwork dynamics. It inspired the adoption of SharePoint, and streamlined how our team approaches collaboration.
By leveraging online cloud syncing and live editing of shared word documents, we are able to write, edit, design, and recieve input/feedback in real-time with leadership and stakeholders.
Data Visualization
Data is a key aspect of the report. Visualizing each institution's key performance indicators provides information and insights to both system and institutional leadership.
My effort to dig through public data sources such as distance ed data from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board or National Center for Educational Statistics has yeilded key insights about the system's online education performance at a state level.
The visualization below, from page 8 of the 2019 report, is an example of such efforts.
